Check Presentation Slated for Rob Massaroni Memorial Fitness TrailBENSALEM -- Senator Tommy Tomlinson and PARX Casino are pleased to announce a $10,000 donation from PARX Casino to the Rob Massaroni Memorial Fitness Trail to be installed at Shafer Middle School in Bensalem. The donation from PARX will match a donation from the Race’s Sponsor Independence Blue Cross. Senator Tomlinson, Representative DiGirolamo, Representative Davis, Mayor DiGirolamo, School Board President Heather Nicholas, Superintendent Dr. David Baugh and the members of Bensalem’s Gaming Advisory Board will join the Massaroni family at a check presentation ceremony at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at the Bucks County Visitor Center located at 3207 Street Road in Bensalem. Tomlinson said the trail is dedicated to the memory of Rob Massaroni, a teacher who was committed to keeping his students in shape through his after school distance-running program. Massaroni was a Black Belt Karate instructor and 7th grade Social Studies Teacher at Shafer Middle School in Bensalem who passed away in 2007. Rob was leading a brigade of more than 30 young runners from the Shafer Middle School into the 10-mile Broad Street run May, 2007, when he collapsed and passed away at the finish line. "This fitness trail, while honoring a great man, will more importantly continue Rob’s goal of fit and healthy middle school students," Tomlinson said. "We hope that many students and community residents use and enjoy the trail for years to come."
