Senator Tomlinson to Host Annual Senior Expo Thursday Sept 24

(Harrisburg) -- More than 50 exhibitors, including state and local agencies, will provide the most current information on programs and services available to Pennsylvania's older residents at a Senior Expo hosted by Senator Tommy Tomlinson (R-Bucks).

The free informational event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday September 24, 2004 at King's Caterers, 4010 New Falls Road in Bristol.

Tomlinson said the event provides seniors with a "one-stop resource" for information on a wide range of services and resources available to them – many of which are free of charge or at a reduced cost.

Representatives from state agencies will be on hand to discuss a number of programs including reduced rates for vehicle registrations, property tax and rent rebates.

Other booths will be set up to provide seniors with information on Social Security, health care, AARP, and a wide variety of other programs and services that are available to them. Seniors can also obtain free health screenings. There will also be free refreshments and door prizes.

"The senior expo offers senior citizens a chance to learn so much about the services and programs that are available to them," Tomlinson said.  "It's not just informative though, it's a fun day for both exhibitors and participants.  There's a real sense of sharing and community that have contributed to the success of this annual event. I urge all area seniors to stop by."

Media coverage is encouraged.
